Ionization structure of HII galaxies
HII Galaxies belong to the category of Blue compact Dwarf Galaxies. Between their different properties, there are some that have boosted a great interest in the last years about the triggering factors of star formation, the determination of chemical abundances o their place in some diagnostic diagrams of emission lines, if we compare them with other families of objects. My aim in this seminar is illustrate the advantages of observing the emission lines of [SIII] in the near IR in order to provide a complete diagnostic of the ionized gas in these objects. On the other hand, I will compare the observational properties of these objects and the results coming from the photoionization models, stressing the agreements and disagreements between them and trying to find an explanation to them.
