The Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect as a tool for cosmological implications : results with MITO telescope

The distortion of the CMB radiation spectra due to hot gas inside clusters of galaxies, the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect, has been detected in the radio spectral range towards several clusters. However, high frequency observations, 150-350 GHz, are crucial for disentangling it from primordial CMB anisotropies and efficiently extracting cosmological and astrophysical informations. A dedicated instrument with specific observational strategy is a must for observing the effect. MITO, a 2.6-m telescope operating on the Alps, will be described together with recent results.
