, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), at the Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Toulouse et de Tarbes (LATT)
in France. The appointee will work in close collaboration with Dr. Thierry Contini
, focusing on the modeling and interpretation of the spatially-resolved properties of high-redshift galaxies. He or she will be part of a group of researchers
all working on galaxy evolution in a cosmological framework. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to participate in analysing 3D spectroscopic data (ESO "Large Program" started spring 2007 - 300 hours observing time with the AO-assisted NIR 3D spectrograph SINFONI) of a large sample of distant galaxies drawn from the VIMOS VLT Deep Survey (VVDS)
The applicant should have a PhD in Astrophysics with experience in the field of galaxy evolution. Knowledge in the analysis of the dynamical properties of galaxies using 3D spectroscopy will be particularly appreciated. LATT has a diverse international environment conducive for postdocs to reach their full potentials and has access to Europe’s most outstanding facilities. Travel expenses and full support for scientific research activities are forseen, including support for visits to our collaborators in Europe. The net salary is 1700 euros per month, national health insurance and pension plan are included.
